# update\_bot\_profile

Change the public profile of the business's own Telegram bot (partial: send only what changes). \`name\` 1-64 characters, \`about\` up to 120 (the short line in the bot profile), \`description\` up to 512 (the «What can this bot do?» block); an empty \`about\` or \`description\` clears it. \`languageCode\` (\`ru\`, \`en\`, \`default\`) picks the localization to write; omitted = the business language; \`default\` is the text for everyone with no dedicated one, so write it too if the audience is mixed. The profile photo: \`profilePhotoMediaRef\` (a JPEG or PNG, or an MP4 for an animated photo, up to 10 MB, uploaded with media\_request\_upload and finalized with media\_finalize) or \`removeProfilePhoto: true\`. The start-screen picture or GIF has no Bot API method: passing \`startScreenMediaRef\` changes nothing and returns it in \`refused\` with the @BotFather instruction. Telegram limits how often a name can change; if it refuses a field, the error names it and the fields already changed. Returns \`botUsername\`, \`applied\` and the profile read back from Telegram; if the read-back fails, \`profileReadFailed: true\` and \`profile: null\` — the writes in \`applied\` still landed, call \`get\_bot\_profile\` to see the result. \`BOT\_TOKEN\_REVOKED\` means the bot's token was revoked: connect the bot again.
